On September 4, 2017, I started my new mission.
As the inaugural Chief Medical Officer of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation ( MPTN), my mission is to help the community achieve better care, and better health, at a lower cost.
At the formal employee orientation, I spent time learning the history
at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
Moving, powerful story of resilience.
This is the largest museum dedicated to native people and culture.
As noted on its website:
The Museum is a 308,000-square-foot complex, consisting of permanent exhibits, the Mashantucket Gallery (a gallery for temporary exhibits), classrooms, a 320-seat auditorium, a restaurant, a museum shop and administrative offices. The Research Center houses collections, archives, and archaeology and conservation laboratories where ongoing work from the field is evaluated and studied.
As I work with the community to improve the health and wellbeing, I have a strong feeling that this wonderful space will play a vital role in the health transformation.
